Amplifying Indigenous Voices

ICA works to center Indigenous Peoples, rights and knowledge in the climate discourse. Indigenous peoples hold unique knowledge that can be used to build solid solutions for climate change. Sharing stories from the ground is one of the most powerful ways that we can inform and inspire others to build climate solutions. We create media that documents the experiences of Indigenous actors in climate justice, uplifts Indigenous knowledge, and affirms Indigenous rights and sovereignty.

“We don’t need to translate ourselves all the time through the lens of the mainstream.” - Danika Littlechild

Amplifying voices has become a critical component of the work of ICA to elevate the leadership of Indigenous Peoples in climate justice. We are continuing to build out, support and create platforms for Indigenous knowledge holders, Elders, youth and frontline land and water protectors

  • ICA POD

The Indigenous Climate Action Pod (presented by Indigenous Climate Action) aims to both build up the Indigenous rights movement in so-called Canada and to connect with Indigenous Peoples, even when we cannot meet in person. For many Indigenous Peoples, access to internet is often limited and resources such as videos and websites can be difficult to access, and books can be difficult to obtain due to costs, so accessibility is the foundation upon which this show was made.

The podcast team is made up of Lindsey Bacigal, Brina Romanek, and Morningstar Derosier.
