Joanna (she/her) is an immigrant with second generation experience, and of Iraqi Kurdish and Mandaean descent. She was raised and resides on Treaty 13 territory in Tkarón:to. 

She holds a Masters degree in sociocultural anthropology from the University of Toronto, and has been a community organizer in anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist spaces, and alongside Indigenous sovereignty movements for the past 10 years.

In her free time she likes to be outdoors, grows food in her backyard garden, attends local shows, and cuddles with her fur baby.
