Tiki Stefure
My name is Tiki Stefure, also known as Uyaruq. I am an Inuk from Tuktuuyaqtuuq in the Northwest Territories, and I am currently studying anthropology and psychology at Vancouver Island University. I am passionate about advocating for my home community and other northern communities, especially when it comes to the social and environmental challenges they face. While working with the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation in the Innovation, Science, and Climate Change department, I gained valuable insight into how climate change is affecting northern residents and their way of life. This experience strengthened my interest in understanding culture, communities, and the social issues that shape people’s lives. Through my studies, I hope to continue learning how to support and represent northern voices. In my free time, I enjoy playing sports, going on walks, and reading.
